Smokey says to "BE SAFE"

So, remember that Todd took the boys riding on Veteran's Day. Sierra and I beat the boys home. We got a call to meet them at Arby's for dinner. When we drove down there, we found Wes walking around the restaurant with his chest protector still on. Seems he had too good of a time. We let him wear it the rest of the night not thinking much of it (we always knew the kid loved to ride).

The next morning, I leave for a few minutes to take Lance down to the high school. I come home to find Weston walking around with the chest protector back on, but still in his PJs. When I commented on it, he let me know that he was wearing to be safe. hmmm. Yes, that's what we tell him when he is riding his quad. "SMOKEY says to be safe, Mom." (Yes, that's right, you probably guessed it...Wes had a Smokey the Bear lesson recently in his preschool class). So, now, not only does Smokey want you to be safe and not play with matches, but he also wants you to PROTECT your chest:). So, I let him wear it for a while.
But, then came the time where he needed to get ready for the day. Wes didn't hesitate to go ahead and take it off. He got dressed. Brushed his teeth and hair. And then wanted the chest protector BACK ON...to be safe like Smokey the bear advises.
I had my horseback riding class and Wes usually rides down with me. When he heard we were getting on the horse, he insisted on wearing his cowboy boots. (that is when you are supposed to wear them). So, here goes Wes, riding Cherokee down the street in fleece pants, cowboy boots, and a chest protector. gotta love it.
He wore it all day long. I think his dad needs to take him riding lots more!
