Weston the Performer

Weston had a Christmas Recital for his preschool class. He did a great job... a little spacing when he was up with the whole group singing (afterall he is a TAYLOR), but overall he seemed to have a good time.
When it came time for his part, he willingly performed. I wasn't too sure if he'd go shy on me or not. But, he gladly performed his part of the elf.

Now when it came time for his speaking part into the microphone, he kind of whispered unintelligibly into the mic, but nonetheless, he did it and was adorable. (as would any mother would say)
His good friend, Cade, was the gingerbread man. Wes had fun chasing him down!
Catch that Gingerbread Man!!!
After a job well done in the recital, we enjoyed some yummy food and then Weston showed off some of his creations. Good job Wes! I was impressed that his whole stocking was colored in (many were not).

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas...

At the beginning of the month, Basha's put on a Christmas Party in their parking lot ...if that's what you call it. I don't remember what everyone else in the family was doing, but for some reason it ended up being just me and the little boys that headed down for the fun. Wes was excited to see Santa Claus. Zane thought he was too old and had no desire to go sit on his lap. But, at least Weston enjoyed it!

They also had a big pile of snow for the kids to play in. The boys joined in on a snowball fight.

Weston even tried out some sliding.

After some fun in the snow, we bought some hot dogs, chips, and soda for a yummy lunch. I had accidently left my purse at home so we raided the change in my car. We had just enough for two hot dogs and one bag of chips and one soda to share... cause we knew we needed some saved for....
COTTON CANDY!!!

Simply heaven for young boys.

Thanks Bashas for supplying us with a great morning!

Hanging Out in the Backlot

We were enjoying some free time... just hanging out in the backlot. Even though the grass is no longer green, the horses still wanted to come out front and chew it done. The whole family just hung out. Wes said "hi" to Billy, our neighbor's adorable goat that thinks he a dog.
Sierra, of course, couldn't resist sitting on a horse even if they are just out grazing.
The boys decided to play around on Lance's mini bike ...and give the horses a good lesson in desensitization to engine noises and fast moving vehicles:). Luckily, they are all used to that stuff by now.
Lance gave Weston some fun rides around the lot.

Then, Sierra's pony must've been calling her name...even though I didn't hear it. 'Cause she just couldn't let him graze and enjoy himself:).
I'm not sure...but I think those pinned ears are telling her that he would rather graze.
But, he does his job anyways...and give her a few moments of fun. (yes, she is riding him bareback and bridleless). It was a nice afternoon just hanging out with my family.

Walking Tall

A while back, Zane come home from den meeting all excited about some stilts that he had tried out... that another scout had made. In fact, the directions were even in his scout book. Imagine that:). He was anxious to get his own set of stilts. So, on this particular day when Todd had some free time, Zane and Todd made some stilts. Above, is his first set. He really enjoyed them. Unfortunately, his big brother Lance did so also...and broke the stilts with his 100 lbs! (It's a good thing my 110 didn't try them out:):). So, the next set they made had to be beefier.... and taller!!!
One very happy and proud-of-himself boy.
Here goes Zane on his TALL ones. I think he's gotten up to 180 steps. Way to go Zane. Lance had the same kind of fun with a pogo stick a couple years back. With Sierra performing tricks on a horse, Lance on a pogo stick, and Zane on stilts ....I should start a Taylor Family Circus:). Whaddya think?

Not a Security Blanket

Typically a blanket makes one feel safe and secure. I don't think this one is serving that purpose though. Lance decided to make his own homemade swing out of this blanket. In fact, when Todd and I walked out and found this going on we had to put an end to it (after taking pics of course:)...Yes, my blog comes before my child's safety). We were worried that the blanket was going to tear mid-flight. But, the boys sure thought it was fun!!!

Chef Dad

Dad has his specialty dishes that the kids always beg for him to make. (yes, I try not to take it to personally that they don't seem to do the same to me:) For example....Dad's biscuits n gravy are practically a Sunday tradition. Dad's Top Ramen with eggs is often requested. Dad's caramel is another one. On this particular day, I think it was Sierra that brought it up. Dad was happy to oblige. We happen to have a fruit tray in the fridge. It was brought up mainly for the apples. Everyone knows that caramel goes with apples. But, does everyone know that pickles do too? Yea, Todd actually tried to sell us on that one. In fact, he ate a few pieces until I finally tried one...and gagged.
Here, we caught Weston double dipping in the pan. (No, we don't usually let that happen...for those of you who are worried about eating at our house now).
Wow. Imagine our delight when we found some m&ms to add to our caramel apples. YUM!!!! Thanks Chef Dad for indulging us.
